LEARNING TO “LET IT GO”!

Categories: Personal Growth,Relationships

Riding in my car listening to my toddler sing to the top of her lungs the most favorite song to almost every toddler on the planet, “Let It Go” from the movie “Frozen.” I sat waiting to hear her favorite part of the song, “Here I stand…in the light of day.. let the storm rage on!” The numerous times I have heard her sing, shout this line, there was something in her attitude that struck me as different. I would venture to say it was being expressed from a place of freedom. FREEDOM? Yes, freedom. The sound of freedom only achieved by those who have embraced the I AM.

We need to address OUR SHORTCOMINGS in order to begin the process of moving forward.

Equally important is the weight (guilt, condemnation, depression) that we tend to overlook and carry around like a fitted garment. The fitted garment is mentally woven with other’s opinion of who we are, and other’s vision of what we are suppose to accomplish.  We often become consumed with the fanatical thoughts of what “they” think.

Just when we think the garment could not get any heavier, our own negative thoughts of ourselves and traumatic experiences adds to the weight.   The ultimate result is a plastic unauthentic existence.  We were created to live and enjoy the freedom of self-authenticity.

“…looking unto Jesus the founder and finisher of our faith.”

Begin today stripping away one by one the weights of negativity and oppression that keep you from looking up to God who created you “in his image, after his likeness, and dominion.”

1) Be honest: with yourself and take a moment to self-reflect. “Examine yourselves! to see whether you are in the faith” (2 Corinthians 13:5). Spend time examining areas where you have allowed others to impact you negatively.

2) Forgive: There is nothing more powerful than forgiveness. Unforgiveness can hold a person in captivity and cause bitterness (cancer). In addition, it keeps you as a slave to your past hindering the beauty your future. “But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus” (Phil. 3:13-14). 3)

3)Refocus: Look up! You have been “fearfully and wonderfully made”, a designers original. Everything God created is good including YOU! Shed the weight and begin to be your authentic self today.
